.Comparing.Styles.

After re-assessing the situation and approaching water colours with a different style here is what I got as the end result.
I would appreciate feedback, good or bad as it always helps. Me myself I like this new style, it suits this purpose more and even though I also like the other style that one suits limited things but work sometimes.

.Gravity.Defying.Fluffball.

..Carrying on with 'Kidz'n'Pets this is the last image I created before I decided to give my self some time off from art to re-syke my mojo. I'm going to do an experiment with this image and paint it in a different technique to see which looks better, which ever one works best is the style i will be continuing with.

.Free.Stuff.For.All!.

Ha ha! made you look...
Mr.Guitar in full colour, playing his music to the worlds eagerly awaiting ear drums. This image is digitally coloured in a new way of using tools that I've only just found out how to use (why 'only just' I have no idea because this could of helped me a lot in the past).

Rest assure I will most defiantly be using this colouring style more in the many creative days to come. Later on I will get round to doing the same image styles but with acrylics and good old fashion paintbrushes and sponges, to get a contrast and find out which way of colouring works best for me.

.Hugo.Mixed.Tape.

The latest competitions I've been working on, the deadline is at the end of the week and I managed to get these designs done before then so yey! The aim was to pick a list of mixed songs from the hugocreate.com site and draw an album cover inspired by the music, also it had to include the Hugo bottle image somewhere. These are the three ideas i came up with, i tried to make them all very different to give voters a bit of variation to chose from.

Feel free to pick and vote by clicking on the links below...

..Zombie..

Last minute project I thought I'd have a go at, for an online magazine asking for zombie images. I've never drawn zombies before so it was something new and very fun to do I thought. I managed to get 3 images drawn up in one day but only one coloured so far, and as the time span between me finding out about the competition to when the competition ended was 3 days I think I've done well to get even this far. Here is the stage of the first zombie, already send off to the competition, if I get the others done in time I will also send them.

.Clown.Painting.Stages.

Half way through creating a circus themed image I was informed that the live painting gig had been canceled. Still I decided to continue and finish the image anyway, so here is the stages of creation and the final image. In all it took at least 5 hours from start to finish, it's all done in acrylics.

.Circus.

Shortly I will be taking part in a live painting event in Queens Gardens Hull, the theme is 'circus'. I wanted to make my image slightly dark rather then happy and funny, so I spend the day watching Cirque Du Soleil performances and sketching like crazy the body shapes, costumes and colours. Below are a few pages of my doodles and working outs, plus the single clown image which I may be using on my live painting image. I am going to continue trying out different materials and sketching out alternative clown costumes in case I have time to create more then one image.

.Continue.

Been working on another image which brings a load of characters together, it's somthign to keep my painting going when i have nothing else on the go. With all the fine details it's very time consuming and relaxing to do and also looks good when it all comes together. this is what it looks like so far.

.Calender.

The time has come yet again to think of idea's for a calender, this year I've come up with two themes one of which is inspired by a nameless individual. The idea i have NOT shown here is slightly disturbed and may offend some people. This idea below is a calender based on my 'Hoodie' character in themes suited for each month either based on the weather or holidays which happen. These are just quick line drawings for the first four months (they are not in order) and they will continue to be digitally coloured later on.

..Cyanide.Slippers..

Just for the fun of it I thought I'd draw a CD cover or something like one, for a fake song. I've called this song Cyanide Slipper, it's meant to have a sort of sinister, dark but beautiful feel to the name. Before I had even started drawing this up I'd already been inspired to create a whole line of fake song jackets and may even write song lyrics if I get really bored. So yer, this is the pencil sketch for the Cyanide Slippers cover, I'm going to work over it in pen and then colour it digitally later on. Watch this space!

.Peace.Hoodie.

I've started once again on my Hoodie character, this one is inspired by Peace and War. Once i'd finished this image and added the 'aged' look I thought it would look good on a t'shirt so I'm going to look in to that later on.

.Attempt.Two.

Attempt.Two
After discovering some of the frames stuck out further then the others there was a suggested option of scraping the nails and going with industrial strength Velcro instead. Also the images on my wall had been moved closer together to create a more focus on the group of pictures rather then one picture at a time. The Velcro worked for a while but being expensive and in short supply it had to be spread out and made to last which didn't work well as I resulted in breaking a frame when it fell off the wall. I had already broken and repairers 3 frames previously and didn't want to have to fix any more. So over the weekend I will search for alternative solutions to my problem.

Final.Exhibition.Preparations.

The Chaos of Preparing.

The time has come to put up and sort out my final exhibition at Hull College. My previous blog was showing how i would like to layout my wall, this one shows how it all looks ON the wall. Just a single nail for each picture, but first I drew them all out on paper the nailed through the paper while it was on the wall so I got them all in the right places. In these picture they are hung on the wall but not all of them are straight yet and still lots of mess about, but I think it's looking good! Organised Chaos :)

HSAD Poster

A quick idea for the HSAD end of year show, the theme was breaking free or freedom so I stuck with my splashy paint look and used the box image as a bursting forth and being free thing. I wasn't sure of the exact details like the date, time and whether or not it was just for the illustration part or the whole school so I left it blank for now.

One Of Them Days

Yer, today HAS been one of them days when all technology seems to fail, and your mind lays heavy, your trail of thought is non-existent and you might as well be sat with a giant fish on your head. So this is what I got at the end of a day when i had a very annoying cold, after looking at it for more then 3 minutes I decided that it might look good on a t-shirt, so I'm going to try it out on different colours and templates to see what I get.

Myspace Page

Hi, ever since I started my account on Myspace I've never found a layout/background image that I've really liked and I've FINALLY got around to drawing one myself :) The only problem is that it's on a huge piece of cardboard and I've only got an a4 scanner and a bad camera, so....I've ended up scanning it in bits and sewing them all together on Photoshop.

The original image is a mixture of collage, spray paint, acrylic and marker pen, I might add more colour on digitally later.
