Where's my head at?

Well... I've just looked at my own blog and even I don't know what I've  got on the go lol

The rabbit book is a 'when I've got nothing else to do' project and the Neverland BigBen  is still on going.
I've been asked to create some Christmas cards for Frederick Holmes School for children with disabilities http://bexedenillustration.bigcartel.com/product/frederick-holmes-christmas-cards
All money made from the sales of these cards go to the school to help them build sensory rooms and purchase equipment to help the children. Click on the link above to go to my shop.
Below is a preview of the four cards you get in each pack.

... and now i'm off to do some more Neverlnd BigBen drawing :)

Big Ben in Neverland.

Started a new drawing a while ago, i'm taking this one very slowly.. drawing in all the small details to make it look amazing. I'm hand drawing each bit then scanning and layering them up.

This is what I have so far.

Oodles of Doodles

In a chilled state of mind i'm gathering my thoughts and getting back on to the path of arty'ness. I'm getting back in to the swing of things! managing my time and projects.. yes i'm still doing a few things at once but i'm not letting them cross over, one at a time please.

Below is a few sketches I've been doing ( yes actual sketches on actual paper, I've been lacking in real paper sketches lately ) hope you like my doodles.

Also i'm going to do some more Christmas cards this year, I wanted to be as random as possible with themes, so I've chosen that the character for this years cards is....Ronny the Radish. :)

One more thing.. going back to my habit of digital doodling I've drawn a few bugs.

Update.

First of all BIG thank you to Chris Oatly, you blogs have taught me tons! He pointed out my biggest fault 'being addicted to the start' yes he was right, I love starting something new and the thrill wear's off once I get in to it. So I've started planning a lot more and working out the compositions before the final drawing..

Lately I've done a few doodles for a band logo idea, here they are!

This is the one they went with.

And as something silly and fun for me to do ( just because I can ) I've been drawing bugs.

What's bugging you?

The Winds of Change

Change can be a good thing.. or sometimes just really..really annoying.
I have presently purchased a new laptop and was told 'It's only available in windows 8' so I said fine, I was NOT told that my current hardware and recognisable software wouldn't be compatible with windows 8.. BOO!

SO! I continued my zombie images on one laptop while I slaved over the other to get it back to the norm i'm used to. Here are the 3 images I've completed so far!

Also now pleased to announce that software and hardware is as it should be so more zombie pictures will be on the way!
With addition to the writer of the zombie script requesting more images with a longer deadline ( yey! )

rock on.

Share and share alike.

So whats happened is i've been chosen by some one on skill share to do a few images for them for their zombie story, it's unpaid work BUT it will get my work out there hopefully. So while i'm drawing blood, brains and terrified people i'll be posting work in progress as i make them (which will be quiet quickle because they deadline is september!) ok back to work!

Ella Street Festival

Spent a very hot, very long day last saturday taking part in the Ella Street Festival with my friend Craig Middlebrook.  http://craigmiddlebrook.blogspot.co.uk/  selling our art and creations.
I unfortunately didn't do very well in selling anything more then three little big heads.. nobody understood the greatness that is a 'Portable Art Case' and so I collected my wares and gathered them all on to ebay.

Plenty to go around don't fight! >  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251306361941?var&ssPageName=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

Below is a photo of my side of the stall.

Once again my awesomeness scared away the public and I am forced to continue creating artwork to send out in to the world!

Traveling Art Case.

Progress on making the portable art cases is slow but getting there! I made the first one from denim, with it being the first there was some snags like the sewing machine getting stuck, the case not being quite straight and bits of thread sticking out of random places.
But after the long grueling process of sorting all that stuff out, the second case was made much more quickly and looks a lot neater!

Here is the better case in 3 stages, the first is when it's rolled up and fastened.
This is the pattern on the back of the case.
This is the inside showing the 3 small pockets and the 1 larger pocket.

All in all I will be selling these at the Ella Street festival this year, not sure how much yet but they will be relatively cheap and in many colors. I have yet to stick on the labels and may even come up with a better name for them rather then 'traveling art case' ... my next idea is to do them in plain white with your own custom designs on them!

Back To Business

After a nice two week holiday in Turkey and a beak away from phones, the internet and tv, it's time to start with some fresh idea's.

To start with i'm gonna remind myself to find photo references to draw from every time it's a detailed picture. The second thing is i'm taking part in the Ella street festival this year with some friends.. having no new immediate artwork to sell, i'm helping my fellow artists by making my own batch of roll up travel cases for pencils, pens, paints ect for the artist that always on the move!

Right now i'm still at the cutting material out stage so i'll have some photo's up soon.. if they are popular i might sell them on ebay or something yah never know!

p.s gonna design a new label for tags.

..and so it begins.

Following my latest attempt to be noticed I re-designed an image for an album cover for a heavy rock band, after hearing they already had an illustrator lined up to draw for them.. I carried on anyway. The Theme was 'and so it begins' being the scenario of some one starting to go worse then crazy in a mental institution.
Because the original goal had changed slightly I skipped drawing a background and drew the main image on it's own.. which I think works well.

This is the finished image! hope you enjoy.

Traditional and Digital.

Phew I've been busy again! Taking a break from the world of digital drawings I went back to my roots and dis a huge A3 water color! It was so bit that my A4 scanner died of fright.. so in the end I had to scan it in as two parts and 'knit' them back together again. Below it the finished image.

Then after another little break and a push of inspiration from some of my friends, I decided to design a t-shirt... which can be bought in black or white on my zazzle.com page. http://www.zazzle.com/serious_gamer_t_shirt-235226438848745323
Below is the image i'm talking about.

Practice and Experiments.

I managed to color in the sketch from the previous blog as a water color practice piece, what do you think of it?

Also did a little experimental piece by merging textures and photo's together.
In the mean time I've had an idea for a big water color picture, if it turns out good or not we'll find out.. but it should be fun to drawn and paint!.

Break and Refresh

Had a little brake from art while I was ill.. it was well needed for a fresh perspective! I'm gonna practice more with my digital painting and water colors, so I'm doing two pieces of artwork at the same time on the two mediums.. lets see what happens!

Below is the inked version of the water color.

Watch this space to see what happens!

Frogs Frogs and Frogs

As a side project for another competition I thought i'd have a go at drawing some frogs, Something I've never really drawn before. I looked at the present entries and found that lots of people had drawn pictures with one or two frogs in them and I drew 5 ( plus a girl dressed as a frog ) Giving them all attitude and individualism. Frogs can be scary, cute, funny, cool and just plain old so to show all that here is my entry!

Sunshine on the face of a miserable old fart.

Right! where was I? Oh yer! after lots and lots of scribbling, re-arranging, re-DRAWING and colour deciding i came up with the final idea for my canvas which was this...

After which I printed and traced on to a canvas and spent a whole 3 - 4 hours painting! It ended up looking like this..

After staring at it for a while, I pondered.. then I thought... then I decided that this canvas was too simple, I liked it but wasn't sure I wanted it to be the only entry in to the Open Exhibition.
So I came up with another image of paper, water colour paint and pencil ( with a few leafs from my bonsi tree stuck on there ) and I got this...

Which I liked a lot better because it's more fairytale esque, and water colour is my best medium.
Then i merrily hopped on a bus full of depressed and morbid people and skipped on down to the gallery to give them my two little rays of sunshine. If they end up selecting my work for the open exhibition who knows, only time will tell.

From distruction to creation.

Think i'm nearly there with the idea for my next canvas! Bomb girl as it was originally known has turned in to steampunk girl who has found a teddy, this is the sketch for this idea.

  Let the progress continue!

Post-appocolyptic canvas

Being a new year there's always the chance of creating new work for the Open Exhibition in Ferrens art gallery! But this year i've decided to plan out my paintings a bit more, so i'm doing stages of sketches and ideas for a new canvas painting I wanna do for this particular event.

Below are the beginning stages of my ideas.

The idea behind it is an solitary young girl in the aftermath of a modern war, with rubble of technology and modern clothing and te background being toxic dust clouds. Yer it may be a bit risky in a gallery of happy pictures but thats how I roll.
